When Should I Buy a Car?

At the end of the month, dealers who can hit a few cars within the sales quota will earn them a big bonus. Sellers will be more motivated to make deals with buyers and can significantly reduce the number of cars, making up for lost money  with bonuses. This is the time when you shouldn’t sleep in the car sale. However, keep in mind that even though the sales team hit their quota earlier this month, the salesperson may not be  motivated to give you the screaming offer you expect. It’s hard to know in advance. But if you’re in the process of negotiating and the agent offers you a very low price, take a moment to ask your seller why the agent is willing to  lose money on this sale. If the reason makes sense to you and the price is significantly better than what your research indicates, it could be a sign that the dealer is trying to set a sales target.

If you feel nervous about buying at the end of the short month, test drive the car you’re interested in at the beginning of the month and close the deal closer to the end of the month. Plus, many new car deals go into effect for a few days after the end of the month, giving you a little extra space. If your main goal is to buy or rent a new car for the best price possible, we recommend saving a lot of money during the year-end sale in December. While the data shows that December is the best time of  year to buy, there are also a number of other viable months. In other words, if you need a car in January, you don’t have to wait 11 months to get a good deal. New car discounts generally follow a trend that coincides with the launch of new models. In general, the more new cars co-exist with older models, the greater the savings.

The months from January to April are usually the slowest selling months and  the smallest discounts on the market. In fact, the month with the lowest amount is in February, with an average discount of about 5.7%. Things improve during the summer months: the introduction of new cars drives down the prices of older models. And lastly, reduce the price as much as possible closer  to the end of the year. If you need a car in October and want  the best price, you may want to wait until December, although you may have fewer cars to choose from. Waiting will give you more time to do more research on the right vehicle for you. You will also be able to collect more quotes.
